The giant basket star is nocturnal, spending the day curled into a tight ball, but extending its branched arms at night to snare plankton in the water. It is found throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, and can reach around 55 centimetres in arm span. Filmed in Dominica, in the West Indies.
