Dense mat of brown algae in a lake as a result of agricultural pollution. Run-off of fertilisers into lakes causes eutrophication, a massive overgrowth of algae at the expense of other plants. When the algae die they sink and are degraded by bacteria, which consumed oxygen, suffocating fish and other aquatic life. Filmed in Denmark.
