Male northern cardinals (Cardinalis cardinalis) landing on branch in search of seed on cold, snowy day in Ohio. This is the northernmost cardinal species and is found throughout the eastern U.S., southeastern Canada, and eastern Mexico. Males have much more vibrant colors than females and are slightly larger in size.
