Pyramidal nerve cells. Animation of nerve impulses travelling through pyramidal nerve cells, or neurons. Pyramidal cells are so named for their triangular cell bodies (black). Each cell body has numerous processes (dendrites), which collect and transmit information from other nerve cells and sensory cells. Each cell body also has an axon leading from it, through which it passes information to other cells. Pyramidal cells are found in the brain.
