Close up of the head of a Cane toad (Bufo marinus). The cane toad is large and stocky with warty skin and is native to the woodland and forests of South America. In 1935 the species was introduced into Australia in order to control pests that were eating sugar cane crops. The toad had little effect on the pests and are now considered as an unwelcome, invasive species.
