Benzene molecule. Animation of the structure of a molecule of the aromatic hydrocarbon benzene (C6.H6). Atoms are colour-coded spheres: carbon (grey) and hydrogen (white). This animation shows the double bonds moving around the structure, a phenomenon known as resonance that is due to delocalization of some of the electrons forming the bonds. This delocalization can also be represented as a circle (see clip K004/5871).
