Robonaut 2 and astronaut. Robonaut 2 is a humanoid robot that is being developed by NASA and General Motors to take the place of astronauts during extravehicular activity (EVA) tasks. Robonaut is remotely controlled by an astronaut using a telepresence control system. It was flown to the International Space Station (ISS) in February 2011 by mission STS-133, the final mission of the Space Shuttle Discovery.
