Timelapse footage of short jet contrails crossing the sky at sunset. The length and duration of contrails depends on the amount of moisture in the upper atmosphere. Very dry air means the contrails are short-lasting, as here. If the air contains a lot of water, the vapour in the engine exhaust can act as a trigger for further condensation, and the contrails appear to expand and cover the sky. Filmed in Colorado, USA, in autumn.
