Close-up timelapse footage of silver metal crystals growing after being displaced from a solution of silver nitrate. A small chip of zinc metal was added to the solution, which displaced the silver and bonded to the nitrate ions. The solid silver then precipitated from solution, growing to form delicate crystals. Speeded up 40 times at the start, and 60 times towards the end of the clip.
