Flat rock scorpion (Hadogenes troglodytes) responding to threat by turning toward scientist prodding it and raising it claws. Scorpion species with small, less venomous stings, like this one, must rely more on their claws to deter predators. This species is native to most of southern Africa and its flattened body is ideal for slipping into narrow cracks and crevices.
